About the Role: As a Senior Product Designer, you'll lead design efforts on key projects, shape our accessibility-first approach, and champion user-centered design throughout the organization. You'll bring deep expertise in accessible design patterns and mentor other team members while driving innovation in digital accessibility solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end design processes for major features or products
- Develop and document accessible design patterns and best practices
- Identify opportunities for improving UX and accessibility across the product suite
- Collaborate with product management to define requirements and success metrics
- Collaborate with product management to define research objectives
- Plan and conduct user research with diverse participants
- Plan and conduct secondary research
- Synthesize research findings into actionable insights
- Advocate for user needs based on research data
- Lead collaborative workshops with key stakeholders
- Present design concepts to stakeholders and defend design decisions
- Collaborate with development on technical solutions
- Contribute to the company's design system
- Scope design effort for strategic initiatives and feature requests
- Mentor mid-level designers and provide feedback on accessibility implementation
Required Qualifications:
- Case study or portfolio that demonstrates an end-to-end design process, including outcomes
- Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and accessibility standards
- Experience leading design projects from concept to implementation
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools
- Experience conducting user research with diverse participants
- Ability to translate complex design requirements into accessible and intuitive designs
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in SaaS product design
- Certifications in accessibility (IAAP, etc.)
- Experience designing for assistive technologies
- Hands-on experience with accessibility testing tools
- Understanding of development constraints and technical feasibility
- Experience in mentoring other designers
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS to understand implementation constraints
- Basic familiarity with JavaScript to effectively communicate interaction needs
- Understanding of ARIA attributes and semantic HTML for accessibility implementation
- Ability to use browser developer tools to inspect and test accessibility features
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and how to interpret their results
- Understanding of how design decisions translate to code implementation
- Knowledge of design system implementation and component-based architecture
- Ability to create simple coded prototypes to demonstrate complex interactions
- Understanding of platform-specific accessibility guidelines and implementation requirements
