Mobile QA Engineer - SDET: Job Description
As an SDET, the person must have experience in both Automation Testing and Functional Testing (5-7 years).
Qualification:
- Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical studies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong team skills, are required.
Required Skill Set:
- Test case management
- Ensure features are logged appropriately. Learning the product to understand what test cases exist/missing.
- Work with the development team to identify which test cases are automated.
- Strong functional/manual testing background, including defining test strategy, test planning, test case design, and execution
- Agile testing experience
- Proficiency in Mobile Testing Tools
- Comfortable in Android Studio / Xcode and can deploy to a simulator or device.
- Familiar with mobile testing paradigms (IE: testing data service or wifi parameters, device settings altered, etc.)
- Test Automation Exposure
- Familiar enough with automated technology to know the limitations.
- Comfortable with, and expert in at least one of the following native automated testing frameworks: Appium, XCUI for iOS, UIAutomator for Android
- Exposure to Test script development, execution and debugging for faster learning
- Exposure to continuous integration (Github Actions, Jenkins, CicleCI).
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail, strong communication skills.
- Working in a cross-functional team with developers to ensure good test coverage and practices
- Has a drive to take ownership of testing initiatives and assist in planning & breaking up work.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and proven experience collaborating with global teams
Desired Skill Set:(Good to Have)
- Experience in writing some application code (native or cross platform accepted) to build more robust examples for testing
- Comfortable with mobile accessibility basics to interpret and understand rule results
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Project experience using an Agile methodology (e.g. Scrum)
- Develop and execute automation tests for new and existing features.
- Learn, maintain, improve, and expand the existing automation framework.
- Work with the Product Owner to maintain test cases for each product component
- Work closely with the technical leads and Product Owners to identify and remediate gaps in automation coverage via test cases. Track progress of automated coverage.
- Work with Product Owner and technical leads to lead and support QA efforts each release.
- Debug issues identified through automation and work with the development teams to document and resolve these issues.
