About the Role
As a Senior Accessibility Developer at Deque, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accessibility remediation for our enterprise clients. You’ll work across Web and Native mobile platforms (iOS/Android), applying your deep technical knowledge to identify, fix, and prevent accessibility issues.
You’ll collaborate closely with designers, developers, and accessibility experts to ensure that every product Deque touches meets or exceeds accessibility standards and provides an inclusive experience for all.
What You’ll Do
- Implement remediation solutions for accessibility issues in codebases across web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript,TypeScript, React, Angular, Next JS etc.) and mobile platforms (Swift, Swift UI, Kotlin, Jet Compose , React Native, Flutter etc).
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and QA teams to integrate accessibility best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Validate accessibility fixes and verify compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and EN 301 549.
- Provide technical mentorship, detailed guidance, and accessibility training to client developers and teams.
- Troubleshoot complex accessibility issues.
- Contribute to internal accessibility documentation, automations, tools, reusable components, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Stay ahead of emerging accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and testing tools to continuously evolve our practices.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in web and/or native mobile development with a strong focus on accessibility.
- Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1/2.2, WAI-ARIA, and inclusive design principles.
- Proven experience in web accessibility remediation, including complex UI components and single-page applications.
- Strong expertise in native mobile accessibility (iOS and Android) — including TalkBack, VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and accessibility APIs.
- Experience performing automated & manual audits using assistive technologies and tools such as axe DevTools, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and NVDA/JAWS.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to explain accessibility issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- IAAP Certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or CPWA.
- Experience working with Deque tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD accessibility testing pipelines and automated testing integrations.
- Experience working directly with enterprise clients or large-scale digital ecosystems.
